Good day for Chennai teams

DEC. 30.
Southern Railway and Central Excise, both from Chennai, began their campaign in the 18th KRL all-India cricket tournament with a note of flourish at the KRL Oval, Ambalamugal, on Thursday.
While the Railway team put it across Swantons CC, Ernakulam, by 57 runs in a Pool `A' match, the Excise outfit too had little difficulty before prevailing over State Bank of India, also from Chennai, by five wickets.
The scores:
Southern Railway 249 in 30 overs (A. Baskar 61, Kadar Basha 42, G. Umapathy 40, Robert Fernandez four for 58) bt Swantons CC 192 in 23.5 overs (Ajay Kudua 70, Sebastian Antony 42).
SBI 153 for nine in 30 overs lost to Central Excise 155 for five in 20.5 overs (N.P. Rajagopal 40, Jaishanker four for 54).
