HYDERABAD, DEC. 30. The Chief Minister, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, on Thursday reviewed the functioning of Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati, with the Vice-Chancellor, S. Jayarami Reddy. The V-C, who assumed charge recently, made a presentation on the activities of the university and submitted proposals and budget requirements for the development of the five-decade old university. Prof. Reddy said that the varsity proposed to adopt latest technology, modernise teaching, research, extension and consultancy activities. A liaison centre would be established to facilitate university-industry interaction. A Centre for inter-disciplinary studies, Centre for water resources, PG courses in meteorology, public relations, journalism, theatre arts, materials chemistry and artificial intelligence would be launched. Plans are afoot to create adequate infrastructural facilities to seek autonomous status for the PG centre at Cuddapah by introducing additional courses in applied mathematics, biochemistry, botany, physics, English and economics. The V-C urged the Government to sanction funds to take up developmental works on the campus.
