Cuddapah
By Our Staff Reporter
CUDDAPAH, DEC. 30. The MRPS State vice-president, K.C. Lakshmaiah, on Thursday demanded an enactment in Parliament to re-classify SCs. Addressing a dharna before the Collectorate, he urged the Government to keep appointments in abeyance until then. The micro-classification was achieved by movements in which 11 persons lost lives, he said and flayed leaders of Mala community for getting it scrapped. Lamenting a G.O. issued in accordance with the Supreme Court judgment, Mr. Lakshmaiah warned of an agitation against it. The Rayalaseema Civil Liberties Committee convener, M.J. Subbarami Reddy, said Madigas would regress by the scrapping of the micro-classification and wanted re-classification. The MRPS leader, Ravi Kumar, warned of a democratic movement seeking re-classification of SCs.
Memorandum presented
Our Kurnool Staff Reporter writes: Aactivists of MRPS stormed the collectorate. They staged a demonstration at the collectorate and wanted to meet the Collector and present a memorandum. When the police opened the gates to allow a delegation of five, all protesters forced their way into the collectorate complex and shouted slogans. The police had tough time to prevent the protesters from entering the chambers of the Collector. Later, the leaders presented a memorandum addressed to the Government.
