The Superintendent of Police, Kancheepuram, K. Premkumar, confirmed the arrest.

Mr. Raghu, who was asked to appear before the team this evening, was later told by the police that he had been detained in connection with the murder case. He entered the investigation bungalow at around 5.15 p.m. along with his counsel, A. Shanmugam and Vaidyanathan. At around 7.45 p.m, Mr. Raghu's brother Prabhakar came to the bungalow and informed the sentry that he was asked to come there by the special investigation team.
