THRISSUR, DEC. 30. Jerusalem Retreat Centre, Thalore, is set to play host to the valedictory function of the year-long 200th birth anniversary observance of Kuriakkose Elias Chavara to be held there on Sunday. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Jose Chittilappilli and Davies Pattath said that all the 45 deacons of the CMI would be raised to the sacred order of priesthood on that day. Cardinal Mar Varkey Vithayathil will be the main celebrant in the function and another 11 bishops will assist him. The public meeting to be held in the afternoon on that day in this connection will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy, and Cardinal Vithayathil will preside over the function. The Speaker, Therambil Ramakrishnan, will present the Chavara Jayanthi Award to Joseph Mattam. The Forest Minister, K.P. Viswanathan, will hand over the keys of the 200 houses built for the poor.
