Non-refundable PF advance

By Our Staff Correspondent

NEW DELHI, DEC. 30. The Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has decided to grant a non-refundable advance up to Rs. 5,000 from the Provident Fund account of subscribers in the tsunami-ravaged areas.

The subscribers have been authorised to withdraw from the EPF advance for repair or construction of houses, including acquisition of suitable site for the purpose.

A Union Labour Ministry spokesperson said the EPFO would expedite the disposal of claims from victims in the tsunami-hit areas.

It had been decided to set up special cells to facilitate the payment of Provident Fund and pension to the families of EPF members who lost their lives in last Sunday's disaster.
