Toll put at 165

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM,
DEC.30.
The total number of deaths in the tsunami catastrophe has been officially put at 165.
The Revenue Minister, K.M. Mani, said here today that the injured numbered 1,617, with Kollam accounting for 1,254, Alappuzha 270, Ernakulam 86, Thrissur six and Kasaragod one.
The Minister said 24 relief camps were opened today. He said 74,209 persons had been given refuge in the camps. With this, the number of camps in the State has gone up to 175 and the number of persons to 1,71,491.
