THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, DEC 30. People all over the world have begun to understand the relevance of Sree Narayana Guru and Sivagiri has emerged as one of the main pilgrim centres in the world, the Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana Yogam general secretary, Vellapally Natesan, said here today. Inaugurating the 72nd Sivagiri pilgrimage on the Sivagiri Madhom premises, Mr. Natesan said Sivagiri would soon become a universal pilgrim centre. This is not just a pilgrim centre of members of the Sree Narayana community. People of all communities come here to attend the annual pilgrimage, Mr. Natesan said. This year the pilgrimage is being held amidst the `Guru Varsham' 150 celebrations. In the wake of the disaster wreaked by tsunami, the organisers have decided to conduct the pilgrimage in an austere manner. Mr. Natesan said the teachings and philosophy of the Guru should be part of the life of his followers. However, many do not have a serious approach to life and lack the capacity for introspection and rectify their mistakes. The annual pilgrimage offers them a chance to mend their ways, Mr. Natesan said. The spiritual ideals of the Guru have gained international significance and are becoming more popular among people all over the world, he said.
