Railway staff to donate salary

CHENNAI,
DEC. 30.
Railway employees in the country will contribute their one-day salary to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund for providing assistance to the victims of tsunami. This will come to Rs. 15 crores, according to the Minister of State for Railways, R. Velu.
The Minister said that the Railway Women Welfare Association would donate Rs. 25 lakhs to the fund. This apart, the railways would permit stranded people in tsunami-affected areas to reach their native place free of cost.
