The Gannavaram airport recorded a maximum temperature of 29.8 degree Celsius and a minimum of 17.6 degree Celsius, on Thursday. Humidity dropped from 89 per cent in the morning to 61 per cent in the evening.

Commodity rates

The following were the prices (in rupees per kg) of essential commodities in the local wholesale market on Thursday, according to the Vijayawada Chamber of Commerce and Industry:

Groundnut oil-51, palmolein oil-39.75, sunflower oil-51, tamarind (flower variety)-30 to 40, tamarind (karipuli variety)-45 to 52, chillies (A.C)-20 to 22, (non-A.C)-12 to 14, rice (2716)-12, rice (super fine)-12.50, rice (sona masoori)-15 to 16, samba-13 to 14, black gram-20.70 to 24.80 and red gram-22.

VMC council meet on Jan. 4

The general body of the Vijayawada Municipal council is scheduled to meet at the council hall at 10.30 am, on January 4 instead of December 31, according to a press release.

Home guards

selections

The results of the examination conducted for selection of home guards, from December 20 to 23, have been displayed at the office of the home guards' DSP. The department personnel asked the selected candidates to be present for training classes to be conducted at the office of the RI administration home guards, from January 2, with their original certificates.

Free eye camp

A free eye camp was organised at Chaitanya Tapovanam ashram, by members of Bala Bhaskara Seva Sangham, here on Thursday.

Nearly 150 patients visited the camp and were examined by Dr. K.K.S Chakravarthy.

Nominated

Kolanu Krishna of Madhura Nagar area of Vijayawada city, has been nominated as a member of the reconstituted All India Handloom Board.
