Guntur
By Ramesh Susarla
The District Collectorate complex is the worst maintained part of the division
GUNTUR, DEC. 30. One of the major problems in the 43rd division of the Guntur Municipal Corporation are mosquito menace due to lack of proper drainage and insufficient water supply. The municipal division, which houses the district Collector's office complex, district police office, district court complex and medical college, is most neglected when it comes to drains. Only recently, one of the major drains was repaired providing some relief to the Police Lines and Kannavarithota. A drain from Kannavarithota 6th lane to Mastan Dargah that remained unattended all these days, will be repaired and works were sanctioned with a Rs.18-lakh layout last week. The sanitation inside the Collectorate is the worst with garbage piled up at every corner. Water supply in the Kankaragunta 14th lane onwards is a major problem. After the shifting of thatched houses from along the main road near Kankaragunta, things have improved for the people in the locality. The ITC has taken up greenery project on the median running from the GMC Guest House to Kankaragunta Railway crossing, which has given a facelift to the area.
