Six killed in road accidents

HYDERABAD, DEC. 30. Six persons were killed in road accidents in and around the city on Wednesday and Thursday.

A resident of Musheerabad, Giri Yadav, 30, died on Thursday after a van belonging to the APSRTC hit the motorcycle he was riding near Karkhana. He was shifted to Apollo Hospitals, Vikrampuri, where he died while undergoing treatment, the Karkhana police said.

A retired engineer of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, P. Narayana Murthy, 63, died on Wednesday when a van belonging to a private engineering college knocked down the motorbike he was riding near Nallacheruvu. Murthy's brother, Narayana, who was riding pillion, escaped with minor injuries. The victim was a resident of Medipalli village and was going to Uppal when the mishap occurred, the Uppal police said.

A scooterist, Santosh Tiwari, 23, died on Wednesday, when a tipper coming in the opposite direction knocked him down near Fatehnagar flyover. A native of Bihar, Santosh was a resident of Fatehnagar.

A lorry driver, R. Janardhan, died on Wednesday when an APSRTC bus knocked him down while he was crossing the road at Gagan Pahad under the Rajendranagar police station limits. He was a native of Kerala. D. Narsimha, 24, died on Wednesday when an oncoming lorry hit the scooter he was riding at L.B. Nagar. The victim was a native of Mahbubnagar district, the L.B. Nagar police said.

A resident of Nomula village, G. Narsimha, 24, died on Wednesday when a tractor hit him while he was crossing the road on Nagarjunasagar Road. He suffered grievous injuries and was declared brought dead to the Osmania General Hospital, the Ibrahimpatnam police said.
