BANGALORE, DEC. 30. The police have banned vehicles on Mahatma Gandhi Road, Brigade Road, Church Street, Museum Road, Rest House Road and Kamaraj Road on the New Year's Eve. According to a release from the Commissioner of Police, S. Mariswamy, vehicles will not be allowed on these roads from 4 p.m. on Friday to 5 a.m. on Saturday. The police have also prohibited parking of vehicles from Anil Kumble Circle to Trinity Circle on Mahatma Gandhi Road, from Anil Kumble Circle to Cash Pharmacy on St. Mark's Road, from Mayo Hall to Richmond Circle on Residency Road, from Cauvery Emporium to Cubbon Road junction on Kamaraj Road, and on Brigade Road and Church Street from 4 p.m. on Friday to 3 a.m. on Saturday. The police will tow away the vehicles found parked in these areas after 4 p.m. on Friday, the release said. Parking is permitted on both sides of Kamaraj Road, from Kamaraj Road junction to Commercial Street junction. Parking of private vehicles is permitted at the Shivajinagar bus stand. Vehicles proceeding towards Ulsoor from Queen's statue junction after 4 p.m. can go through Central Street, Cubbon Road and Webb's junction. The police have imposed the restrictions as thousands of people throng Mahatma Gandhi Road on New Year's Eve.
