KOCHI, DEC. 30. The District Administration has decided to chalk out a comprehensive rehabilitation schemes for the residents of Edavanakkad Panchayat who have been rendered homeless following the tsunami attack on Sunday. The District Collector, A.P.M. Mohammed Hanish, has identified 1.184 acres of land for the purpose, according to a press release. The Cabinet has given the nod to the scheme. The details are yet to be worked out. The District Collector informed that the task of cleaning up the wave-hit areas of slush and mud would continue on Friday. The work was stopped on Thursday following an alert issued by the Government on the possible recurrence of the tsunami waves. As many as 11,2398 persons from 2,559 families have been given shelter in the 25 camps functioning at present. Mr. Hanish has directed the Village Officers for quick distribution of the assistance announced for the injured admitted at hospitals.
