KOCHI, DEC. 30. The general secretary of the Dheevara Sabha and former M.L.A., V. Dinakaran, has urged the Central Government to give a sum of Rs.787 crores which the State had sought for relief and rehabilitation work for those affected by the tsunami disaster in Kerala. The Rs.100 crores that the Centre allotted to the State was insufficient. Reconstructing the Alapad panchayat in Kollam and the Arattupuzha panchayat in Alappuzha alone will require a huge amount. The funds should not be diverted. The Centre should also provide adequate grant for sea-erosion prevention work, he said.
