DDC meet postponed

KOCHI, DEC. 30. The meeting of the District Development Committee slated to be held on January 1, 2005 has been postponed as the officials and people's representatives concerned are engaged in relief operations, according to the District Collector.

Donate to relief funds

The Kerala State Small Industries Association will donate Rs.3 lakhs as the first instalment to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. The State president Xavier Thomas Kondadi has requested all small-scale industrialists in the State to send donations for the relief fund as DD/Cheque payable at Kochi or money order to KSSIA, Tsunami Relief Fund, Kochi-18.

CUSAT contributes

The Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) staff has handed over Rs.3 lakhs as the first instalment of their contribution for the relief fund to the District Collector.

Aid for tsunami victims

The officials and staff of Hindustan Organic Chemicals Limited, Ambalamugal, will contribute a day's salary for the rehabilitation of the victims of the tsunami disaster.

Shipyard employees extend help

The employees of Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) have decided to contribute a day's salary to the relief fund. The amount collected is estimated to be around Rs.10 lakhs. The CSL employees have also given clothes, blankets and soaps to the victims of the disaster housed in relief camps.

Association's gesture

The Kerala Hotel and Restaurant Association will contribute Rs.2 lakhs to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. The association will also give Rs.25,000 for food in the camps in Kollam district and Rs. 15,000 for Alappuzha district.

Rice given to camps

The Ernakulam District Rice Mill Owners' Association has handed over 80 sacks of rice for the various relief camps functioning all over the State. Navy Foundation donates money

The Navy Foundation Cochin Chapter, welfare organisation of retired Naval Officers residing in Kerala, has requested its members to contribute at least a day's pension to the relief fund.

Bus operators to collect fund

The Ernakulam District Private Bus Operators' Association is collecting funds from the bus owners in the district for the relief and rehabilitation funds.
