MADIKERI, DEC. 1. The Janata Dal (Secular) has joined hands with the Congress to form the coalition Government in the State only to avoid another election and to prevent the Bharatiya Janata Party from coming to power, the State President of the Janata Dal (S), N. Thippanna, said here on Saturday. Addressing party workers here, Mr. Thippanna said that the party did not agree with the principles of the Congress. He said that the Janata Dal (S) is not been able to fulfil all promises made in its election manifesto. He said that the party was responsible for the ban on online lottery. It would have done more had it secured a majority on its own, he said. The party stand on the Bangalore Mysore Infrastructure Corridor was has been vindicated as the excess lands of farmers acquired for the purpose are now been given back, he said. The secretary-general of the State Janata Dal (S), Mahima Patel, said the party would identify sincere workers. It will not allow "some others" to don the mantle of a leader in Kodagu just because of their proximity to the top leadership. The president of the Kodagu unit, V.P. Aiyappa, submitted a memorandum to party President, H.D. Deve Gowda, listing problems the district.
