Action against 540 doctors in Madhya Pradesh
BHOPAL,
JAN. 1.
The Madhya Pradesh Government has initiated disciplinary action against 540 doctors, mostly in rural areas, for unauthorised absence from duty for a long period.
"As part of the drive launched some three months ago to improve attendance in hospitals, show cause notices were issued to as many as 540 doctors who had remained absent from duty for unusually long periods without proper authorisation,'' the State Health Minister, Gauri Shanker Shejwar, told PTI here.
No reply was received for the notices within the stipulated time in most of the cases and departmental enquiry was launched against many. The services of 100 government doctors were terminated to begin with.
The matter relating to the absence of 90 doctors was referred to the State Public Service Commission seeking permission for dismissal of services but no response has yet been received by the government in this regard, the Minister said.
