Celebrations cancelled, funds sent for relief

CHITRADURGA, JAN. 1. The students and staff of SJM English Medium High School cancelled New Year Day celebrations and contributed the entire amount collected for the celebration to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund. The school handed over cheques amounting to Rs. 10,000 to the Deputy Commissioner here on Saturday.

The Chitradurga Officers Club also cancelled celebrations on new year's eve and donated Rs. 10,000 to Prime Minister's Calamity Relief Fund. S.H. Vijay Kumar, secretary of the club, handed over the cheque to the Deputy Commissioner on Friday. The Civic Employees' Union of Chitradurga have decided to contribute one day's salary to the relief fund.
