Mega medical camp from tomorrow

VIJAYAWADA, JAN. 1. The Rotary Club of Vijayawada plans to conduct a mega medical camp at Andhra Hospitals in C.V.R Complex on Prakasam Road, from January 3.

In a statement on Saturday, the chairman of the Rotary Medical Services Committee, G.V. Mohan Prasad, said the camp was being conducted as part of the club's centenary celebrations. The Commissioner of Vijayawada Municipal Corporation, V. Usharani, would formally inaugurate the six-day camp.

A team of US-based specialists in various disciplines would examine the patients with the assistance of a few city-based doctors. The NRI doctors' team would comprise--Sudarshan R. Reddy, Alfred J. Sindar, Vishubhai Patel, Bhawani Garapati, J.W. Estman, R. Samuel, K. Sandra and Ratna Garapati-- who would be assisted by the city-based K. Pattabhiramaiah, N. Satyanarayana, G. Samaram, P.B. Ramanamurthy, G. V. Mohan Prasad, A. Ravikumar, A.R.C.H. Mohan. N. Suryanarayana and C.V. Satish Kumar, G. Rajasekhara Reddy. An additional nine-member team of senior nurses from the US would also take part in the camp.

A screening test would be conducted at the Indian Medical Association Hall on January 2, from 10 a.m. onwards to identify patients who need surgery. The organisers have set a target to conduct 100 surgeries at the camp.
