Marine killed in Iraq

BAGHDAD, JAN. 1. A U.S. Marine was killed in action yesterday in the volatile province of Al-Anbar west of Baghdad, said the U.S. military today. It gave no further details. The province includes the cities of Falluja and Ramadi where attacks on U.S. forces have been frequent. Since the start of the war in March 2003, at least 1,043 U.S. military and Pentagon personnel have been killed in action in Iraq. Including non-combat deaths, the toll is 1,329.
