PONDICHERRY, JAN. 1 . Three prisoners in the Pondicherry Central jail attempted to commit suicide, demanding relaxation of entry rule for visitors, today morning. All three are undergoing treatment in the General Hospital and are out of danger, according to jail authorities. The three prisoners- Bharati, Prem Kumar and Velmurugan- are serving life sentence. The Jail authorities said that while Bharathi hit himself with a tube light on his neck and the other two consumed washing soda. It must be remembered that some of the prisoners undertook a two-day fast last week demanding relaxation of entry rules and also wanted permitting of fruits, bread and home-made food brought by visitors. They also demanded better toilet facilities. On December 25 the prisoners called off their fast after jail authorities assured that they would look into some of the demands. But they ruled out any relaxation of entry rules, as it has to be decided by the government
