GURUVAYUR, JAN. 1. The writer M.N. Vijayan has said that the degeneration being witnessed in Kerala society is a manifestation of the regression of the State from the long-cherished values of Renaissance. Participating in a cultural meet organised here as part of the district conference of the CPI(M) today, Prof. Vijayan pointed out that during the Renaissance period, people used to get "intoxicated" by the commitment to certain ideals. But contemporary society has forsaken all such ideals, he said. Several writers and artists, including Kovilan, C.V. Sreeraman, Janardanan Nedungadi, K.G. Sathar and U.C.K. Thangal were felicitated at the function. The former Cultural Affairs Minister T.K. Ramakrishnan inaugurated the cultural meeting. Vysakhan, Asokan Cheruvil, K.E.N. Kunjumuhammed, K.A. Mohandas, K. Purushothaman and P.P. Divakaran were among those who spoke at the cultural meet
