Acting on a tip-off that some unscrupulous elements would come to Paharganj in a stolen vehicle, the police laid a trap and intercepted the car. The three occupants were identified as Jugal Kishore, Jitender and Nishant Sharma. During interrogation, they disclosed that they used to take flats on rent in different localities and somehow obtain their electricity and telephone bills, on the basis of which they would open bank accounts on fake identity proofs. Then the three would buy electronic items like television, music system and handicams on instalments and issue the shopkeepers cheques, which were never honoured. At their instance, the police recovered electronic goods worth Rs. 1 lakh and incriminating documents. Further investigations are on.
