Letters to the Editor
Sir, The Great Fire of London, 1666, is no comparison to the tsunami (Letters, Jan. 1). The tsunami wiped out people and places across nations whereas the Great Fire affected only London. The Dec. 26 tsunami was a natural calamity while the London fire was the result of the carelessness of a maid who worked in a shop owned by Thomas Farriner King Charles II's baker in Pudding Lane.
Sir, Tsunami being a possible cause for the submergence of Kaveripumpattinam (Poompuhar) of yore (Letters, Dec. 31) may not be a figment of imagination.
Jayasree Sarnathan,
Sir, Giant tidal waves not only erased Poompuhar from the Chola kingdom. They submerged an entire continent, Lemuria. Lemurians were an ancient civilisation that existed during the time of Atlantis. Lemuria was located in the Southern Pacific, between North America and Asia/Australia.
