ANANTAPUR, JAN. 2. The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders of the district on Sunday alleged that the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, had deceived farmers of the district by issuing orders to release 2 tmcft additional water from HLC to Cuddapah district, overlooking the assurance given to Anantapur for an additional 5 tmcft water. Talking to newspersons, the TDP Polit Bureau member, K. Srinivasulu, the former Minister, P. Samanthakamani, the in charge Chairperson of Zilla Parishad, C. Obi Reddy, and others alleged that on the directions of the Chief Minister, the Chief Engineer of Major Irrigation, G. Prakash Rao, had issued orders on December 30 to Tungabhadra Board to release 2 tmcft water to Cuddapah district. However, Cuddapah district was being given water overlooking the assurance of 5 tmcft additional water given to Anantapur district, they said.
