Flash strike at Kakinada port

KAKINADA, JAN. 2. The flash strike in the anchorage port here has been called off and the steel barges with rice left the jetty for the anchorage around 6 pm, according to Dantu Suryarao, president of the Cocanada Chamber of commerce.

He told The Hindu that the strike was called off unconditionally and no talks were held with the union leaders on the issue. Expressing happiness over the development, Mr Suryarao said that the chamber had made it clear to the steel barge owners that it would not be in the interest of the anchorage port if the strike continued.
