GWALIOR, JAN 2 . The Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Babulal Gaur, today said that the Minister of State for Animal Husbandry, Sunil Nayak, who was recently sacked due to ``indiscipline'' had been asked to hand over his resignation if he did not repose faith in Mr Gaur. "I told him that if he is to remain a member of the cabinet, I must have confidence in him and vice-versa. After that, he left only to return later and ask me to chargesheet him. Construing that act as indiscipline, I sacked the Minister under the party organisation's recommendation,'' he told reporters here. About the possible lesson the MLAs might have learnt from the episode, Mr Gaur said that legislators should know to maintain discipline and let the Chief Minister work in peace. Responding to another query regarding his predecessor Uma Bharti's supporters in the cabinet, Mr Gaur reiterated, "I am Uma's chief minister. She herself proposed my name.'' He assured that 3,000 km of roadways would be annually laid over the next four years and explained that about Rs 1 crore were spent in laying each kilometre. About the power situation, Mr Gaur said adequate generating capacity would be in place within three years through accelerating work on infrastructure. "By June, the task of installing 16 dam gates at Indira Sagar Project (ISP) will be complete and 1,000 MW shall be the output after July-August in the wake of the monsoon. Work is also progressing speedily on other projects and it is hoped they will be finished in time,'' he added. The chief minister said the Centre had provided an assurance that it would help in securing a Rs 1,600-crore ADB loan. -- UNI
