HYDERABAD, JAN. 2. In a macabre incident, a woman allegedly killed her two children - Anita (4) and Nani (11 months) - and dumped their bodies in the sump of her neighbour's house at Jilelguda under L.B. Nagar police station limits on Sunday. Later, she tried to commit suicide. On a complaint by neighbours, the police arrested her. According to the L.B. Nagar Inspector, Srinivas Reddy, the accused, Sangeeta (30), committed the dastardly act as she was furious with her husband, Suresh, allegedly a drunkard, for not returning home that night. She allegedly roused her children around 5 a.m. and throttled them to death. Later, Sangeeta allegedly dumped the bodies in the sump. She then woke up her neighbour and told him that one of her relatives had killed her children and that their bodies were in the sump.
Suicide bid
Meanwhile, neighbours who became suspicious of Sangeeta's behaviour, confronted her. She confessed to the crime, rushed into her home and tried to immolate herself. But neighbours thwarted her bid and informed the police who took her into custody. "I killed my children unable to withstand harassment by my husband. I don't want to live anymore," Sangeeta told the police. The L.B. Nagar police registered a case of murder against her. It is learnt that there were some property disputes between the woman's husband and his brothers.
