Fund-raiser

for relief

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM. Jan. 2. The Sagara `ganamela' troupe will conduct a free music programme at the Putharikandam maidan to raise funds for those affected by the tsunami disaster. According to a press note issued here today, the troupe plans to raise funds from those who come to listen to the `ganamela.' Playback singer M. Jayachandran, singers Kallara Gopan and Afzal would participate in the programme, which will be held on January 5.

Appeal

The State president of All Indian Democratic Students' Organisation (AIDSO), M. Shajer Khan, has appealed to all students in the State to come forward and assist those hit by the tsunami disaster. Under the leadership of the State council of the AIDSO, relief efforts will be organised from January 3 onwards. Students who are willing to work as volunteers in the relief camps functioning in the State should contact the State committee office of the AIDSO on phone numbers 0471-2307151, 2302229.

Annual conference

The 48th annual conference of the Kerala Local Fund Audit Association will be held on January 3 and 4 in the city. The Finance Minister, Vakkom Purushothaman, will inaugurate the conference on January 3. The delegates' conference will be inaugurated by the KPCC(I) president, Thennala Balakrishna Pillai.

Applications invited

The Chitrakalamandalam has invited applications from school and college students for participating in its training programme in painting. The training will be given on all Saturdays and Sundays at the Anandapadmanabha Nilayam auditorium near the Padmanabhaswamy Temple. Further information can be had from the organisation's office on phone numbers 2471311 and 2465942. Applicants should contact the office before January 6.

SFI medical team

The State committee of the Students Federation of India (SFI) will send a medical team to Nagapattinam in Tamil Nadu, which is one of the areas worst hit by the tsunami disaster. The medical team will leave from the Medical College, Kozhikode, on January 3. The SFI State secretary, T. V. Rajesh, will accompany the medical team, a press note issued here said.

Classes

The classes for the next batch of the short-term counselling courses offered by the Mar Thoma Hospital Guidance and Counselling Centre will commence on January 7 at 5.30 p.m. Further details can be had from the telephone numbers 2443807, 2445668.
