Khadi pavilion inaugurated
By Our Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD,
JAN. 3.
Patronising the products of village industries would go a long way in increasing employment opportunities in rural areas and improving the rural economy, said the State Finance Minister K. Rosaiah, here on Monday.
After inaugurating the `Khadi Mahautsav 2005' pavilion at the 65th All India Industrial Exhibition where entrepreneurs from rural areas displayed eco-friendly and hand-made clothes and other products, he called upon people to purchase khadi clothes and products made by Khadi and Village Industries Commission units. With KVIC bringing in new techniques into their products, they are on par in quality and design with mill-made clothes, he said.
The State Government would give all encouragement for khadi and handloom sectors but without society's help, the sectors would not flourish, he said.
The State KVIC director, K. Mohan Rao, said the khadi pavilion was set up to give exposure to the khadi and village industries products. Bhudan Board Chairman, C. V. Chari, urged the State Government to set up more khadi units.
