HYDERABAD, JAN. 3. Leaders of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Monday lashed out at the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), especially its Central and State Ministers, for being "irresponsible and lacking clarity in word and deed." At a press conference, TDP leaders, Kadiam Srihari, Ravula Chandrasekhara Reddy, Payyavula Keshav and Renuka said TRS leaders were making contradictory statements. They were referring to the Minister for Technical Education, Nayani Narasimha Reddy, for differentiating between "officials of Andhra and Telangana." They also objected to the Minister saying they would confront Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, on the issue of implementation of G.O. 610, creating jobs for those from Telangana region. Mr. Srihari said before the elections, the TRS had spoken of the said G.O. and once elected, the TRS president, K. Chandrasekhara Rao, had said the benefits because of the G.O. were small compared to what they would gain when separate Telangana was formed. If there was inconsistency between the statements made by different TRS leaders, the same was the case with the Congress too, the TDP leaders said.
`Onus on Sonia'
"When there was so much of confusion on the issue of separate Telangana, what prevents the UPA chairperson, Sonia Gandhi, from issuing a statement, throwing some light on it and making things clear?" Mr. Srihari asked. The TDP leaders reiterated that the TRS leaders were only power-hungry and after misleading people and after being elected, they were cheating voters.
