KOLLAM, JAN. 3. The District Panchayat president, Aisha Potti, today conducted a surprise check at the District Ayurveda Hospital, following allegations of corruption against hospital staff. Patients told her that the employees took money for massage. Bed-sheets were not replaced even after a month and those who raised complaints were ignored. An amount of Rs. 50 was collected as bribe under the guise of purchasing kerosene for heating massage oil, they said. And there was no separate massage room for women. Ms. Potti said that she would ask the District Medical Officer (Ayurveda) for an explanation and that the inspection report would be sent to the Government.
