KOZHIKODE, JAN. 3. As per the latest circular of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), the new tariff rates for a local call made from a local PCO will be Rs.2. The duration of the call which was 90 seconds earlier has now been increased to 120 seconds. The revised tariff rate has come into effect for those local PCOs that operate with basic phones from January 1, 2005. The `95' level will not be available. The tariff rate for calls to mobile phones within the Kerala Telecom Circle (92,93,94,98) will be Rs.2, at 120 seconds pulse rate. The State Committee Kerala Telecom Franchisees Association general secretary, V.T. Velayudhan, said that in coin collection booths (CCB type) from where calls are made by inserting one rupee coins, the new order will come into effect only from April 1, 2005. This includes both departmental and franchisee PCOs.
