BANGALORE, JAN. 3. A lecturer of Acharya Polytechnic was killed when he was hit by a tempo in Yeshwanthpur Traffic Police Station limits on Sunday. The victim, Kari Basappa Matad (32), was returning on a motorcycle from his friend's house in Hebbal when he was hit by the tempo at the Kuvempu Circle in Yeshwanthpur. He was admitted to M.S. Ramaiah Hospital where he died in the early hours of Monday. He has a six-month-old baby. The police have arrested the driver and seized the vehicle.
Student ends life
An 18-year-old engineering student, Ranjitha, committed suicide by hanging at her house in Malleswaram on Monday morning. She was a first year student in an engineering college on Hesaraghatta Main Road. The police said she had left a suicide note, in which she had said she took the extreme step because she was not interested in studying in that college.
