Woman given

sedatives,

robbed of gold

Urmila Devi, 58, was relieved of five tolas gold ornaments by an unidentified woman, who allegedly offered her snacks laced with sedatives on Sunday at the Venkateswara temple (Birla mandir). A resident of M.S. Maktha, the woman went out on some work. When she was passing by NTR Marg, the unidentified woman approached Ms. Devi. befriended her and took her to Venkateswarra temple where she offered her some snacks. Ms. Devi fell unconscious after eating the snacks. On regaining consciousness, she found her ornaments stolen.

Private financier arrested

In continuation of the crackdown on private financiers allegedly collecting high rate of interest against law, the Hyderabad Police Task Force (South) officials arrested Shaik Abdul Irfan, 33, of Dabeerpura, on Monday. Irfan's father Abdul Khader, and his worker, Ravi Kumar, who were also accused of harassing a scrap shop worker, Syed Taher, were yet to be arrested, a press release said.
