Skoda car sales up

NEW DELHI, JAN. 4. Soda Auto India, a Volkswagen Group company, today said it sold 7,200 vehicles in 2004, up 55 per cent from 4,656 units in the previous year, and announced that it has raised its sales target for the current year from 10,000 units to 13,200 units, a jump of 32 per cent. In the past three years, Skoda has sold 16,500 units with seven luxury models in the market.

"The increasing demand has made us a confident player in the market and hence we have increased our targeted sales for 2005," Skoda Auto India Managing Director, Imran Hassen, said in a statement.

Hindustan Motors

Hindustan Motors today said sales of Ambassador soared 51.16 per cent in December 2004. The company sold 1,303 units of its Ambassador car last month against 863 units in December 2003.

"The growth in sales performance of the Ambassador can be attributed to the continuous improvements we have been bringing in the product," a company spokesman said. — UNI
