BANGALORE, JAN. 4. Delhi's Shruti Khanna led the field in the gold division of the 7th Dilip Thomas South India Ladies Open amateur golf championship on the opening day. Shruti carded a two over 74 to lead by one stroke from Irina Brar. Parnita Garewal, Manawi Halwasiya and Lalitha Balasubramaniam had identical scores of 78. Shruti had birdies on the second and eighth holes with a solitary bogey on the sixth to end the first nine one-under 35. Her back nine scores, however, were not too good as she ended the day with a card of 74. Irina too started off well with a single bogey on the first nine on the last hole to end up one over 37. Her back nine scores tallied two over 38 as she trailed on the first round by one stroke. In the silver division handicap (13-24), KGA's Dhanalakshmi Rice took a three-stroke lead from teammate Meghan Verma. Dhanalakshmi submitted a card of 92.
Gold division (0-12): Shruti Khanna 74, Irina Brar 75, Parnita Garewal, Manavi Halwasiya and Lalitha Balasubramaniam 78 each.
Silver division (13-24): Dhanalakshmi Rice 92, Megha Verma 95, Aneeta Bhatia 97.
Bronze division: Tripta Ahluwalia 103, Chanchala Rao 115, E. Shalini 120.
