BANDA ACEH, JAN. 4. At least 1,39,547 people are reported dead around southern Asia and as far away as Somalia on Africa's eastern coast, most killed by massive tsunamis that smashed coastlines after a magnitude 9 earthquake off Indonesia's coast on December 26. The United Nations estimates the total number of dead will exceed 1,50,000, while Thailand predicted its toll will hit 8,000. The death tolls by country is: Indonesia: 94,081; Sri Lanka: 30,196; India: 9,571; Thailand: 5,246; Somalia: 200; Myanmar: 90; Maldives: 82; Malaysia: 68; Tanzania: 10; Bangladesh: 2; and Kenya: 1.
