This Day That Age
On January 10, the Ministry of States will disappear and get merged with the Home Ministry. Pandit Pant will take over as Minister for Home Affairs and Dr. Katju will become Minister for Defence. A press communiqué issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs says: "The President has made the following order: In pursuance of Clause (3) of Article 77 of the Constitution of India, I, Rajendra Prasad, President of India, make the following order: (1) The Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of States shall, with effect from January 10, 1955, be combined in one Ministry to be known as the Ministry of Home Affairs. (2) All business at present transacted by the Ministry of Home Affairs or the Ministry of States shall be allocated to the Ministry of Home Affairs."
