Sikkim Plan finalised

NEW DELHI,
JAN. 5.
The 2005-06 annual plan for Sikkim has been finalised at Rs. 500 crores, which includes a one-time special Central Assistance of Rs. 13 crores for special projects.
During the discussions between the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission, Montek Singh Ahluwalia, and the Sikkim Chief Minister, Pawan Chamling, the State administration was asked to further improve the tourism infrastructure and restructuring of primary education system with more emphasis on technical education. It was also suggested that more micro and mini hydel projects should be set up and empowerment of women taken up on a priority basis.
