Letters to the Editor
Sir, This refers to the article, "Freedom to woman blessing or blemish?" (Open Page, Jan. 4). The vision of social reformers such as Gandhi and Subramania Bharati has already been fulfilled. Women are exercising their freedom responsibly and enjoying it. Some may be misusing it but their percentage is miniscule.
Eswari Jayaraman,
* * * Sir, Is it not a fact that several poor and middle class families are empowering their children through higher and professional education with the help of their women's income? Can we deny that thousands of women victims of violence are living with dignity because of their empowerment?
Rameeza A. Rasheed,
* * * Sir, The article rings an alarm. Let not our present-day women be carried away by the liberties they find themselves showered with. With power and freedom come responsibility and majesty. Let them fulfil the vision of our forefathers who dreamt of them as dignified, dauntless women.
Pavalamani Pragasam,
