Uttaranchal
By Our Staff Correspondent
DEHRA DUN, JAN. 5. The Uttaranchal Vidhan Sabha session beginning January 10 is expected to be stormy with the Opposition parties gearing up to raise several issues pertaining to development and poor law and order in the State. The Bharatiya Janata Party, Bahujan Samaj Party and both factions of the Uttarakhand Kranti Dal are coming together to put up a united opposition to what is described as an anti-poor policy of the Congress Government. "We will try to seek explanations from the Government on the delays in introducing need oriented self employment schemes for the poor youth. The delays in coming out with a comprehensive self-employment policy, people friendly village development schemes and massive corruption at all levels will also be questioned," the Leader of the Opposition and BJP leader, Matwar Singh Kandari said. The Uttarakhand Kranti Dal leader, Kashi Singh Airy, wants the Government to clear the mist over the permanent Capital issue. The Bahujan Samaj Party having much hold in Hardwar district wants the Government to come out with a progressive agriculture policy. "We want the Government departments to reach out to the villages and help the farmer grow better crops by making available good quality seeds, regular supply of water and power and pesticides," said Nizamuddin, the BSP MLA. The Samajwadi Party that has no presence in the Assembly but succeeded in winning the Hardwar Parliamentary seat plans to gherao the Assembly seeking adequate development opportunities for all.
