MUMBAI, JAN. 5. The 71st senior, 29th junior and 13th ladies billiards and snooker National championship will be held in Mumbai from January 8 to 29. Dr. Shyam Agarwal, president of the Goregaon Sports Club, contributed Rs. 7 lakhs in importing six tables to the billiards room. Tatas of the Bombay House will be the associate sponsor contributing Rs. 4 lakhs and Strachan will be contributing its bit along with Aramith, which has supplied balls for the prestigious event. Alok Kumar and Pankaj Advani will defend their titles in the senior and junior sections. The ladies event will feature known names like Meenal Thakur, Chitra Magimairaj, Uma Devi, Vidya Pillai, Neeta Sanghvi and Heena Khandelwal. The prize money has been increased from Rs. 1.20 lakhs to Rs. 3 lakhs. Our Special Correspondent
