TIRUCHI, JAN. 5 . Students of the Government Music School in the city offered special recitals today in homage to tsunami victims. They played on various instruments including `veena' and `nagaswaram' and also recited verses from the `Thevaram'. "The songs were carefully selected so as to suit the occasion", said the headmaster of the school, M. N. Sathyamurthy. Students played on their respective instruments in tune with a song, invoking the blessings of the Almighty for an all-pervading peace among the human race. School teachers, G. Kalaivani and K. Sagaya Mary recited poems in homage to the departed souls in the coastal parts of Asia. S. Saravana Manickam recited verses from the `Thevaram'. The Assistant Director, Department of Art and Culture, R. Gunasekaran, was present.
