By Our Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD,
JAN. 6.
The number of seats in Bachelor of Veterinary Sciences (BVSc) offered by the Acharya N. G. Ranga Agriculture University would be enhanced to 300 from present 180 from next academic year.
Speaking to reporters here on Thursday, the Agriculture Minister, Mr. N. Raghuveera Reddy, said there was acute shortage of veterinary graduates in the State. More than 400 posts of veterinary doctors were lying vacant and the enhancement of seats would fill the gap. Ten payment seats in BVSc. course have been earmarked for NRIs. Tuition fee of 4,000 dollars would be collected per year from each NRI student. Similarly, seats in horticulture course at the College of Agriculture in Rajendranagar would be increased from 60 to 80.
The Minister said the ANGRAU had introduced several water management courses. The university proposes to start five animal husbandry polytechnics at Madaksira in Anantapur district, Garividi in Vizianagaram, Venkatramanagudem in West Godavari, Mahabubnagar and Karimnagar.
