Cabinet reshuffle on the cards

RAIPUR, JAN. 6. Expressing displeasure over the performance of some of his ministers, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh today said that he will soon reshuffle his Cabinet after evaluating their performance.

``Although performance of our ministers are better than those in previous Congress regime, but still they have to improve their progress card,'' Singh told PTI.

Considering the performances of some of the ministers, a reshuffle is imminent in the state cabinet soon, he said.

During the previous Ajit Jogi government, the State had failed to spend the allocated money for developmental works but since he (Singh) took over reins of the state, the work efficiency has increased along with accountability among both, the bureaucrats and people's representatives, Singh said.

Singh said he started review of departments after his government completed one year in office on December seven last.

``We have also introduced several new mechanisms to ensure that the money meant for any project should be utilised fully and properly and this year the level of expenditure will be better,'' Singh said.

Not only have the ministers been praised for their innovative ideas and better implementations at the review meetings, but they have also been pulled up for any ``failure'' on their part, the Chief Minister said.

However, Singh alleged that the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre was not providing the expected assistance to the state for its development.

``Railway Minister Lalu Prasad rejected the proposal of the state government to have a Railway Recruitment Board for the region after the South East Central Zone was created by the NDA government with Bilaspur (Chhattisgarh) as its headquarters,'' Singh said and described it as the ``most unfortunate thing''.

On the issue of sharing electricity and central allocation also the UPA government was discriminating against Chhattisgarh, he alleged addiing if the issue was not resolved then the state governmnet will approach the court to get justice. The Centre was also not providing expected assistance to Chhattisgarh on the proposal to have an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Raipur or expansion of railway lines in the state, Singh said. - PTI
