Tata Steel gets certification

KOLKATA: Tata Steel's Jamshedpur works has received the Social Accountability 8000 certification from the U.S.-based Social Accountability International. A company release claimed that the 97-year old Tata Steel was the only steel company to receive this certification, which is a global verifiable standard for managing work place by ensuring a discrimination, harassment and exploitation free work place. The origins of SA 8000 lie in ensuring compliance to International Labour Organisation and human and child right conventions. The release also noted that the certification came in the death centenary year of the company's founder J. N. Tata. — Our Special Correspondent
