VISAKHAPATNAM, JAN. 6. The managing director of Ferro Alloys Corporation Limited, R.K. Saraf, has donated Rs.10 lakhs to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund to take up relief measures in tsunami-affected areas in the State. The Port and Dock workers employed in all the 11 major ports of the country will contribute their one day's wages to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund to render relief to the tsunami victims, according to the additional general secretary of the All India Port and Dock Workers' Federation, D.K. Sarma.
CMR Mall chips in
Chandana Brothers Shopping Mall (CMR) heads the list of donors who contributed towards the Chief Minister's Relief Fund being raised by the Visakhapatnam-II MLA, Saripalli Ranga Raju. CMR donated 2 lakh water sachets, 1,000 pairs of footwear, 500 bedsheets, 500 lungies, 500 towels, and packing material. The proprietors of Sri Sai Ram Parlour, T. Satyanarayana, and Hira Panna Jewellers, donated Rs. 20,000 each. The students of Kumar's Public School and Coaching Centre contributed Rs.11,922, while Manchukonda's Gems donated Rs.10,000 to the relief fund being collected by the legislator. Prominent among other donors were the newly nominated trustee of Sri Kanakamahalakshmi temple, Vankayala Sanyasiraju alias Tataji, who contributed Rs.10,000.
HSL sends relief
The Hindustan Shipyard Rover Scout Crew, under the aegis of the Hindustan Shipyard Ltd. (HSL), on Wednesday raised a lorry-load of relief material, which included 1,000 sarees, lots of clothes, 450 kg. rice, utensils, and cosmetics, for victims in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The relief material was handed over to the Visakhapatnam Port Trust in the presence of the HSL Chief Manager (personnel and administration), S. Apparao, Manager (personnel) and president of the crew, P. Krishnamurthy, and others, for transporting it to Andamans in a ship.
