Tirupati
By Our Special Correspondent
TIRUPATI, JAN. 6. With a view to preparing their cadre to take on the Government in the context of hiking the cap on the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the insurance sector, the Insurance Corporation Employees' Union will organise `leadership training' classes for the cadres in the different divisions. One such programme lasting three days will get under way at Tirupati from tomorrow in which union leaders from 16 divisions of the LIC coming under the South Central zone will participate and undergo motivational training. The general secretary of the Nellore division, K. Koteswara Rao, in a statement here pointed out in this connection the service tax in the insurance premium introduced by the Union Government recently. In an apparent bid to avoid criticism that the insurance staff was being indifferent to the problems of the people, the union leader cited the postponement of the all India strike for wage revision slated for yesterday in view of the tsunami tragedy. He said as much as Rs.80,000 mobilised as donation by the union in the division was disbursed among the affected families of Mypadu village in Nellore district.
